Routine Pregnancy Checkup

~ NO FORCED PREGNANCY ~

Woman deserve the Right to Choose!

I am a mother of five.  Each time I got pregnant it was because I wanted to be pregnant.  Pregnancy is hard and can be brutal on a woman’s body.  No one forced me to take my pregnancies to term.  No one should be allowed to force ANY woman to take a pregnancy to term if that’s not of her choosing.

The best way to reduce the number of abortions performed is to decrease the number of abortions requested.

When women have reliable access to birth control, they are less likely to experience unwanted pregnancies.  Historically, poor women and young women have had limited access to birth control.  The Affordable Care Act mandated insurance providers make birth control available at no cost.  Many “religious” organizations and Pro-Lifers who fought to get the birth control provision of the ACA overturned are the same ones that fight so fiercely against abortion rights.  By limiting access to birth control, “religious” organizations and Pro-Lifers unwittingly contribute to the number of unwanted pregnancies which likely increases the demand for abortions.  They seem more concerned about forcing their beliefs on others than about reducing unwanted pregnancies.

Making abortion illegal will not stop women from having abortions.  Whether abortion is legal or illegal, many unwanted pregnancies will continue to be terminated.  Rich women will find competent doctors who are willing to perform illegal procedures for the right price.  Poor women will get butchered.

According to Alina Salganicoff, director of women’s health policy for the nonpartisan Kaiser Family Foundation, “If your priority is to reduce abortions, one of the best things you can do is make sure that women have access to high-quality, affordable and effective methods of birth control.”

Among the many women’s health services provided by Planned Parenthood, providing access to effective birth control is one of the most important.  I believe funding planned parenthood is key to reducing the demand for abortion! I think those who fight to defund Planned Parenthood are contributing the demand for abortions.

I am not pro-abortion, but I am pro-choice.  Forced pregnancy can never be acceptable.

If a woman choses to have an abortion, it is her choice - not the government's!
